RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY, CALIFORNIA, 1)
ACCEPTING THE WORK PERFORMED BY WRIGHT CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING CORP
FOR THE GRANGER AVENUE STORM DRAIN PROJECT, CIP NO. 25-05; 2) APPROVING
THE FINAL CONTRACT AMOUNT OF $310,388.52; 3) RATIFYING THE RELEASE OF
RETENTION IN THE AMOUNT OF $15,519.43; AND 4)AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN
THE NOTICE OF COMPLETION.
WHEREAS, the Granger Avenue Storm Drain Project, CIP No. 25-05, located on Granger
Avenue between E. 19th Street and E. 20th Street, consisted of replacing approximately 260 feet
of 18-inch Reinforced Concrete Pipe on Granger Avenue with 24-inch RCP, in addition to other
system improvements, to increase storm drainage system capacity to avoid flooding during high
intensity rain events (the "Project"); and
WHEREAS, on June 17, 2025, City Council awarded the contract for the Project to Wright
Construction Engineering Corp ("Wright Construction") in the amount not to exceed $272,500 and
authorized a 15% contingency in the amount of $40,875 to address any unforeseen conditions
that may arise; and
WHEREAS, on July 10, 2025, the Notice to Proceed with construction was issued to
Wright Construction; and
WHEREAS, construction on the Project started on July 14, 2025 and was completed on
August 22, 2025; and
WHEREAS, Project change orders and line-item adjustments increased the contract by
$37,888.52, which resulted in a 13.9% increase to the original contract award, for a final contract
balance of$310,388.52; and
WHEREAS, the Notice of Completion will be filed with the San Diego County Recorder's
Office.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY,
CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE, AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: That the City Council hereby accepts the work performed by Wright
Construction Engineering Corp for the Granger Avenue Storm Drain Project, CIP No. 25-05.
Section 2: That the City Council hereby approves the final contract balance of
$310,388.52.
Section 3: That the City Council hereby ratifies of the release of retention in the
amount of$15,519.43.
Section 4: That the City Council hereby authorizes the Mayor to sign the Notice of
Completion.
Section 5: That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this
Resolution and enter it into the book of original Resolutions.
