Payment for this change order will be as agreed upon lump sum. Supporting Information: During the installation of conduit and pull boxes, the Contractor was unable to locate the 4" PVC conduit as shown on the construction plans, which was intended to run from the edge of the sidewalk beneath the park plaza's concrete improvements and into the electrical building. To investigate further, the Contractor potholed along the entire front edge of the concrete plaza. This investigation revealed a direct-burial electrical wire in the approximate location where the conduit was expected, indicating a deviation from the design plans. To install the new conduit to the electrical building, two methods were evaluated:directional drilling and open trenching(which would require removal and replacement of decorative concrete). After a thorough review of both options, including cost and schedule impacts, directional drilling was determined to be the most cost-effective and time-efficient solution. Time Adjustment: Five(5)working days are to be added to the contract. Cost Adjustment: The additional cost for this change in the scope of work has been agreed upon at a lump sum price of$17,813.53. The pay method and amount have been reviewed by the Project Manager and are considered fair and reasonable. The supporting documentation is on file with the project records.
