RESOLUTION OF THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY
APPROVING THE APPROPRIATION OF $250,000 FOR
THE 8TH STREET (D AVENUE TO HIGHLAND) PROJECT
AS A PARTIAL GRANT MATCH FOR A $450,000
SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL GRANT
WHEREAS, October 20, 2010, Caltrans awarded a $450,000 State Safe Routes
to School Grant for construction of the 8th Street Safe Routes to School Project from D Avenue
to Highland Avenue (the "Project") near Central Elementary School; and
WHEREAS, a local match of $650,000 is required for a total project cost of $1.1
Million; and
WHEREAS, the Project will serve as an expansion of the $4.5 Million Street
Smart Growth Project, which collectively will provide traffic calming and streetscape
enhancements from Harbor Drive to Highland Avenue, including undergrounding of overhead
utilities from National City Boulevard to Highland Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the appropriation of available funds in the amount of $250,000, to be
transferred from the Westside Implementation Project Account (No. 511-409-500-598-3938) to
the 8th Street — D to Highland Avenue Account (No. 511-409-500-598-6176), will serve as a
partial grant match.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
National City hereby authorizes the appropriation of $250,000, to be transferred from the
Westside Implementation Project Account (No. 511-409-500-598-3938) to the 8th Street — D to
Highland Avenue Account (No. 511-409-500-598-6176), to fund a partial grant match for the 8th
Street Safe Routes to School Project from D Avenue to Highland Avenue.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 15th day of February, 2011.
