HomeMy WebLinkAboutExplanationExplanation Mr. Chris Warburton, project manager for the new Pacific View Estates development located on Division Street and Fig Court, is concerned that the new homeowners will have difficulty exiting their driveways due to the speed of traffic on Division Street. Staff recently installed an overhead radar speed feedback sign with flashing beacon assembly for eastbound traffic on Division Street, west of Palm Avenue, as part of a Safe Routes to School grant project. Mr. Warburton mentioned that the Pacific View Estates developer may be interested in contributing towards a smaller -scale speed feedback sign / flashing beacon assembly for westbound traffic upon completion of the project. As an immediate action, staff recommends installing approximately 1,400 feet of 8"-wide parking lane striping on the north side of Division Street from Gilbert Lane to the west to provide a buffer between parked vehicles / vehicles exiting the private driveways and through traffic. The outside travel lane is 19 feet wide which allows for an 11-foot travel lane and an 8-foot parking lane. Pacific View Estates supports staffs recommendation and has agreed to install the striping, under the supervision of City Public Works and Engineering. TSC 2011-6
