HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutionRESOLUTION NO. 2011 — 74 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY AUTHORIZING THE INSTALLATION OF APPROXIMATELY 1,400 FEET OF PARKING LANE STRIPING ON THE NORTH SIDE OF DIVISION STREET FROM GILBERT LANE TO THE WEST TO CREATE AN 8-FOOT PARKING LANE TO PROVIDE A BUFFER BETWEEN PARKED VEHICLES, VEHICLES EXITING THE PRIVATE DRIVEWAYS, AND THROUGH TRAFFIC WHEREAS, the Project Manager for the new Pacific View Estates development located on Division Street and Fig Court, is concerned that the new homeowners will have difficulty exiting their driveways on Division Street due to the speed of traffic; and WHEREAS, the Project Manager indicated that the Pacific View Estates developer may be interested in contributing towards a speed feedback sign with flashing beacon assembly for westbound traffic on Division Street upon the completion of the project; and WHEREAS, as an immediate action, staff recommends the installation of approximately 1,400 feet of 8-inch wide parking lane striping on the north side of Division Street, from Gilbert Lane to the west to provide a buffer between parked vehicles, vehicles exiting the private driveways, and through traffic; and WHEREAS, the Pacific View Estates developer supports staff's recommendation, and has agreed to install the striping, under the supervision of City staff; and WHEREAS, on March 9, 2011, the Traffic Safety Committee approved staff's recommendation. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of National City hereby authorizes the installation of approximately 1,400 feet of 8- inch wide parking lane striping on the north side of Division Street, from Gilbert Lane to the west to provide a buffer between parked vehicles, vehicles exiting the private driveways, and through traffic.
