EXPLANATION:
During the Westside Specific Plan process a large part of the plan focused on amortization of non -conforming
uses, especially auto body shops. The question then came up as to what to do with amortized businesses once
they moved to other parts of the City more suited for their placement. The intent was to have standards for which
to hold the new and relocated businesses to. Design Guidelines and Best Management were presented to the
Planning Commission at their May 2, 2011 meeting, where they voted to recommend approval of the guidelines.
The attached background report describes the proposal in detail.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Staff concurs with the decision of the Planning Commission and recommends that the Design Guidelines and Best
Management Practices for Auto Body Shops be approved.
