RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY
AUTHORIZING THE INSTALLATION OF RED CURB "NO PARKING" ON
THE 3000 BLOCK OF EAST 6TH STREET TO ENHANCE SAFETY FOR
TWO-WAY TRAFFIC AND IMPROVE ACCESS FOR EMERGENCY VEHICLES
WHEREAS, a resident of Paradise Walk expressed concern that the roadway
width for the 3000 block of East 6th Street is too narrow to safely allow for two-way traffic and
access for emergency vehicles due to vehicles parking on both sides of the street; and
WHEREAS, at its meeting on December 5, 2012, the Traffic Safety Committee
approved staff's recommendation to red curb approximately 105' along the south side; and
WHEREAS, the City Council heard this item on January 15, 2013 and directed
staff to explore opportunities to reduce the loss of parking; and
WHEREAS, after a site evaluation, staff recommends the installation of red curb
"No Parking" on the north and south side of the 3000 block of East 6th Street totaling
approximately 50', which reduces the parking loss. .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
National City hereby authorizes the installation of red curb "No Parking" on the north and south
side of the 3000 block of East 6th Street to enhance safety for two-way traffic and improve
access for emergency vehicles.
