HomeMy WebLinkAboutNC Comprehensive Report (Finance) (19)CITY OF NATIONAL CITY Reconciliation of the Governmental Funds Balance Sheet to the Government -Wide Statement of Net Assets June 30, 2012 Fund balances of governmental funds $ 63,263,507 Amounts reported for governmental activities in the statement of net assets are different because: Capital assets used in governmental activities were not current financial resources. Therefore, they were not reported in the governmental funds balance sheet. Excluding the internal service funds capital assets which are reported below, capital assets were adjusted as follows: - Capital assets - Accumulated depreciation Interest payable on long-term debt did not require current financial resources. Therefore, interest payable was not reported as a liability in the governmental funds balance sheet. Certain revenues were not available to pay for current -period expenditures and, therefore, were deferred in funds. Internal service funds were used by management to charge the costs of certain activities, such as insurance, to individual funds. The assets and liabilities of the internal service funds were included in governmental activities in the government -wide statement of net assets. Long-term liabilities were not due and payable in the current period. Therefore, they were not reported in the governmental funds balance sheet.
