ITEM TITLE: 'General Plan Annual Progress Report for 2012 pursuant to California Government Code Section 65400(a)(2), which establishes the requirement that the City prepare an annual report on the status of the General Plan and the implementation of the Housing Element using forms and definitions adopted by the California Department of Housing and Community Deveiopmenq PREPARED BY: Raymond Pe, Principal Piannei PHONE: 036-4421 DEPARTMENT: P APPROVED BY: EXPLANATION: Califomia Government Code Section 65400(a)(2) requires the City to provide an annual progress report on the implementation of the General Plan and Housing Element by April 1 for the previous calendar year. The report is submitted to the Governor's Office of Planning and Research (OPR) and the Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD). Providing the report to HCD fulfills State Housing Law requirements to report certain information, including the progress in meeting the City's share of the Regional Housing Needs Assessment (RHNA). Furthermore, submitting the report to the state ensures that the City remains eligible for grants and other funding sources that are tied to the filing of the report. The report is also submitted to SANDAG to qualify for certain discretionary funds administered by that agency. The report is submitted in table formats provided by and in accordance with HCD reporting requirements. FINANCIAL STATEMENT: ACCOUNT NO.
