TITLE: SALE OF SURPLUS REAL PROPERTY P L.1 C Y

TO establish a vol c and procedure for the =ale of surolus vcropertv and
use of the proceeds frau that sale.

The following steps are to be followed to sale City -owned pieces of
property:
1. Cbtain other City its' comments for the sale of the property.
2. Secure preliminary title reports for the property.
3. Prepare plats and lal descriptions for the property.
4. Request the City Council (Real Estate Committee) to declare the
property surplus and direct the staff to sell it.
5. If applicable, send a written offer to sell or lease the property to
the other yovernment ayemcies (Government C Ode Section 54222) .
5. Order a letter of apprai ga1 for the property from a licensed
appraiser.
7. Order CDTA title insurance policy for the property to be sold._
8. Prepare the advertising and bid packages for the uerketah1P
properties, and retvest the City Council's approval to proceed with
the advertisement of the marketable properties.
9. Advertise the sale of marketable properties.
10. Prepare a final report to the. City C3ounril providing information on
the results of the bid opening or the rAvottationse
11. Obtain approval from the City Council to enter into an escrow to sell
the property. Unless otherwise i f ied in the offer, or in the bid
package, the City will open a normal escrow where the City will pay
for the cost of the title insurance, and one-half of the escrow fee.
The proceeds from the sale will be spent on beautification or im worement
paojects throughout the City.
