ITEM TITLE: A Request to Initiate a Street Vacation to vacate a portion of alleyway bisecting the block between West 16th and West 18th Streets, and between Cleveland and McKinley Avenues (Applicant: Randal J. Ehm, Architect.) (Case File No. 2013-30 SC) PREPARED BY: Martin Reeder, AICP DEPARTMENT: PI PHONE: 1619-336-4313 APPROVED BY: EXPLANATION: the alley in this location is 20 feet wide by approximately 680 feet long (two blocks). Of the fourteen properties located in these two blocks, the developer (YYK Industries, Inc.) owns six (see attached parcel map). Two properties are east of the alley and the remaining four west of the alley. The applicant is requesting to vacate 205 feet of alley between their properties in order to facilitate construction of a new industrial building in this location. If the vacation is initiated, staff will conduct analysis on traffic circulation, emergency access, and General Plan consistency. The City's Street Vacation Procedures require that the City Council initiate a request to vacate any public streets. A complete report will be presented to the Council at a future hearing along with a recommendation from the Planning Commission. FINANCIAL STATEMENT: ACCOUNT NO.
