In response to growing demands for a safe
and convenient way to dispose of household
prescription medications,
the San Diego l'oIkc Department
has installed a drop -box at its Sonthcastern
Division for quick and convenient use.
Residents can bring all types of unwanted
medications, including prescription and
over- the -counter drugs.
Citizens ran remain completely anonymous.
Remember, this program is for household
tnedicatioits only. Medical professionals are
not eligible.

residents to safely dispose of unwanted
household medications.

Why should we ,avoid
flushing medications or
throwing them _in the trash?
• Wastewater treatment facilities are not designed to remove
many of the constituents found in medications, so these
materials- min: pass untreated into our water system.
Researchers detected three elements of medications in
numerous water bodie.. nationwide.

information, including name, address, and
