HomeMy WebLinkAboutExplanationEXPLANATION Mr, Benjamin Cazares, resident of 541 "C" Avenue, has requested a blue curb handicap parking space in front of his residence due to physical limitations. The residence is located on the northeast corner of East 7th Street and "C' Avenue. Mr. Cazares possesses a valid disabled person placard from the California Department of Motor Vehicles. Staff visited the site and verified that the aforementioned residence does not have a driveway or garage to accommodate a vehicle. Currently, there is on -street disabled parking spaces provided at 319 East 7`h Street (one space). Per the City Council Disabled Persons Parking Policy, since the total number of on -street handicap parking * a,.. (including the proposed handicap parking space in front of 319 "C' Avenue) does not exceed 3% of the total number of available on -street parking spaces in the area, Mr. Cazares's request is eligible for further consideration. At their meeting on June 11, 2014, the Traffic Safety Committee unanimously approved the staff recommendation to install blue curb handicap parking space with signage adjacent to the corner lot residence at 641 "C" Avenue. If approved by City Council, all work will be performed by City Public Works.
