HomeMy WebLinkAbout2004 CON Jeff Katz Architecture - Design Fire Station Change Order #2CHANGE ORDER NUMBER 002 TO: Mr. Jeff Katz Jeff Katz Architecture 7290 Navajo Road, Suite 106 San Diego, California 92119 DATE: March 18, 2004 PROJECT: National City Fire Department Headquarters, Station 34 ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION OF CHANGE: There are two components of work involved in this change order. Both of the components are a result of the City asking for additional design work to be performed by Jeff Katz Architecture while in the process of designing the Fire Station. The components are listed as follows: 1. Include the design of a water reclamation system to trap, filter, and disinfect fire fighting training water flow. ($3,500) 2. Additional soil borings and testing as required by the County of San Diego due to encountering groundwater in the initial borings. ($1,250) DISCUSSION: Each of the above items are necessary to design the Fire Station, but were omitted from the original scope of work and fee proposal. Each of items is more fully described in the attached proposal letters from Jeff Katz Architecture CONTRACT ADJUSTMENT: As a result of this change order: 1. The contract price is increased in the total amount of $4,750 from the current contract price of $$669,500 to a new contract price of $674,250. 2. The contract time is unchanged. Kirkpatrick Director of Public Works/Engineering The City of National City Department of Public Works 1243 National City Boulevard National City, CA 91950 RE: Architectural Services National City Main Fire Station Additional Services Fee Proposal - Soil Borings Dear Steve: As part of our effort to provide environmental investigation at the existing Public Works yard, during the effort to obtain soil borings we encountered ground water. As required by the County of San Diego, Department of Environmental Health we were required to obtain a retroactive boring permit from the County. This involved proving additional sample testing, application and reporting, as well as the application fee. I am requesting a Change Order to my contract to cover the cost of this effort. propose to provide the stated services for a fixed fee of One Thousand Two Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($$1,250.00). I am available to meet with you at any time to review and discuss the proposed scope of services and fee proposal. The system will include a holding tank to contain the water and a pump system to re -circulate the water. The system will also utilize a UV system to treat the water. Additional effort to incorporate this system includes civil design and specification of the system, electrical redesign to incorporate the power requirements of the new system and architectural effort to redesign the site and coordinate the design of the system. propose to provide the stated services for a fixed fee of Three Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($3,500.00).
