IN THE AMOUNT OF $28,720 FOR THE REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT OF THE EXISTING ELECTRICAL CONDUITS, WIRES AND CONCRETE SLAB SECTIONS AS PART OF THE RENOVATION IMPROVEMENT OF THE NATIONAL CITY MUNICIPAL SWIMMING POOL WHEREAS, the contract for the Renovation Improvement of the National City Municipal Swimming Pool was awarded to California Commercial Pool on May 17, 2005, by the adoption of Resolution No. 2005-99; and WHEREAS, during the renovation of the National City Municipal Swimming Pool, the adjacent concrete deck was removed, and it was discovered that the existing electrical conduits and wires for the lights under the slabs, which were planned to be protected and reused, were rusted and deteriorated, and needed to be replaced; and WHEREAS, to reenergize the swimming pool lights, it is necessary to remove and replace the entire length of conduits, wire and remaining sections of the concrete slabs that interfere with removal and replacement of the existing electrical conduits and wires; and WHEREAS, Change Order No. 2, in the amount of $28,720, is for the removal and replacement of existing electrical conduits, wires and concrete slab sections. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of National City hereby authorizes the City Engineer to execute Change Order No. 2 with California Commercial Pool in the amount of $28,720 for the removal and replacement of existing electrical conduits, wires and concrete slab sections at the National City Municipal Swimming Pool. The project plans and specifications propose that the existing conduits and wires be protected and reused. Due to the deterioration of the conduits and wires, the repair of the existing electrical lines will not be feasible. In order to reenergize the swimming pool lights it is necessary to remove and replace the entire length of conduits, wires, and the remaining sections of the concrete slabs that interfere with this work and install a new feed line from the main switchgear to the existing panel. Since, most of the affected area is currently trenched and accessible it is more cost effective to remove and replace the electrical conduit and wire improvements as part of the current swimming pool renovation project. A cost for this work has been negotiated with the Contractor. The specifications for this work are included in the contract. The Contactor will complete this work in 12 working days.
