HomeMy WebLinkAbout2007 CON CDC Healey Construction - Change Order #7 Foodland MarketCHANGE ORDER C/O Number 7 To Healey Construction Co, California Project: Foodland Market Project Specification No.:06-04 CIO Initiation Date: March 26, 2007 A Change Order is hereby recommended for the following work in the amount identified in this document: DESCRIPTION OF CHANGE: This change provides for the installation of two (2) twenty amp electrical circuits which will provide power to the "MERCARDO" signs. The MERCARDO signs are provided by others outside the scope of work of the Foodland Market contract. For greater public visibility, the National City project team recommended illuminating the MERCADO signs The electrical work includes two separate designated electrical circuits for each MERCARDO sign located on the west -facing awning and the south -facing awning. The electrical circuits will meet current electrical code standards and this change order will provide all labor, equipment, supports, supervision, and permitting as needed for a complete and operable electrical system to the proposed MERCADO signs. The electrical circuits will be from waterproof construction including conduit, and pullboxes. The circuits will originate from Fooland Market's existing electrical sub -panel located on the west facing interior building elevation. Also included in this change order is the removal and disposal of abandoned steel rails located on top of the west - facing awning. Disposal shall be in a legally permitted recycle center or landfill. The steel railing system interferes with the MERCADO sign desired location on the west awning. The final item in this change order is the illumination of the proposed tower clock. REASON FOR CHANGE: In order to provide greater visibility of the MERCADO sign and proposed clock tower. National City Staff recommends that both the MERCADO signs and clock be provided with illumination capabilities. The MERCADO sign is provided under a separate contract without electrical power. The Foodland Market contract requires close cooperation and coordination between the MERCADO sign installation and the work under contract. In order to save cost and expedite the work, Healey Construction will provide the required power to light the MERCADO signs. This change order will also add illumination to the proposed clock. Power for the clock is included in the original contract and the cost now is minimal to upgrade the clock from a standard face to an illuminated face. COST RECONCILIATION Costs were reviewed and negotiated to the satisfaction of the City. The work will be compensated through the project budget. The cost includes all labor, equipment, supervision, insurance, bonding and permitting to provide a complete working system for the illumination of the MERCADO sign and tower clock. No additional contract time is required. (See attached detailed breakdown).
