Explanation Explanation On January 23, 2012, nine bids were received and opened for the National City Citywide Bus Bench -Shelter Project, Specification 11-05. The lowest responsive bidder was Sadie Construction, Inc. with a proposed bid amount of $84,475. On February 7, 2012, Council awarded the project to Sadie Construction via Resolution 2012- 38. The original contract was for 11 solar -powered bus shelter units with benches and trash receptacles. Due to the lower than expected bid price, budget is available to purchase and install new shelter units at 4 additional locations. The Contractor has agreed to purchase and install the new shelter units at the bid unit price of $7,225 per unit, plus $2,000 for additional traffic control associated with the four new locations, for a total cost of $30,900. Because the amount for additional shelter units exceeds 25% of the original contract amount, we are seeking Council approval for this Change Order #1.
