The property currently does not have a driveway. The owners have submitted plans for tenant improvements to the Building Department. The plans show construction of a new, 10-foot wide driveway with apron along the westerly property line. Since the driveway does not provide a minimum of 11 feet of clearance to the property line as required by National City Municipal Code Section 13.04.220.E, City Council resolution is required to authorize staff to process a special driveway permit. Given the site constraints, there are no other feasible locations to construct a new driveway. The property owners submitted an application for a special driveway permit and paid the required application fee. See attached special driveway application with supporting documents.
